Did you know about the Great Emu War? After WW1, the Australian government decided they needed to expand farms into the Outback to give the returning soldiers some land of their own. But the emus had other ideas for their crops, so the army, prodded by the government, declared war on the wild, rampaging emus.
And they lost. Twice.
The emus "vandalized" the farms, outran the military's trucks, and mostly shrugged off the bullets from the newest machine guns available.
Today there are well over 600,000 emu in Australia.
We like to think there's a lesson to learn from the noble emus. Let no one tell you where you should be and how to live. Refuse to be ruled!
